MYFOXNY.COM - For a few years, a generation of kids watched Ken Ober as the host of MTV's quiz show "Remote Control". Ober's death was announced Monday. He was 52 years old.

Ober hosted five seasons of "Remote Control" starting in 1987.  His show was part of a huge shift for the network that was once only known for airing music videos.  It would be hard to find a music video on the cable channel today.

Adam Sandler, Denis Leary and Colin Quinn were on the series in the early years of their careers.

Ober was, more recently, a consulting producer on "Old Christine".

Ober's agent confirmed the comedian's passing to MTV but provided no information on the cause of his death.
