MYFOXNY.COM - American Idol hopeful Felicia Barton is getting another chance to wow viewers and make her case. Although she didn't initially make the group of semifinalists, the judges gave her a reprieve when producers disqualified Joanna Pacitti.
No specifics were given, but when FOX released the names of the so-called Top 36, an editor's note at the bottom of the list stated simply; "It has been determined that Joanna Pacitti is ineligible to continue in the competition. American Idol contestant Felicia Barton has replaced Ms. Pacitti as part of the Top 36."
Pacitti had been considered an early favorite because of her prior recording experience. She was once signed to A&M Records, which released her debut album in 2006. She also sang on the soundtracks for the movies Legally Blonde and Bratz.
MTV.com reported that Pacitti was disqualified to "avoid the appearance of impropriety." She apparently has close personal relationships with executives with 19 Management, which is connected to American Idol.
Enter Barton with her second shot.
The married mother is from Virginia Beach. Barton, 26, has said she could sing even before she could talk and gave her first public performance at age 2, according to FOX.
