Bark for the Cure in Jersey City

Dogs and the humans who love them put their best foot, or paw, forward at Bark for the Cure Saturday in Jersey City.

The 5 kilometer run/walk raised money -- and awareness -- for canine cancer research.

Two- and four-legged critters filled Liberty State Park for a day of fun, which included dogs showing off their agility, and search-and-rescue contest and free samples of dog food.

For folks who don't have a canine companion, animal shelters had several dogs up for adoption.

All proceeds went to The Freshpet Foundation, which aims to support canine nutritional research in the areas of prevention, care and treatment of diseases in dogs, including cancer.
