NEW YORK - From Harlem to Prospect Park, large monitors, microphones and stages have been set up around New York City for what's expected to be a large gathering of fans of Michael Jackson to watch the memorial service from Los Angeles today.
The ceremony begins at 1 p.m.

The public memorial is taking place at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. Thousands of people including celebrities like Mariah Carey, Usher and Jennifer Hudson are expected at the event.
More than 1.6 million people registered for free tickets. Nearly 9,000 people were randomly picked.
