MYFOXNY.COM - John Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston are expecting a baby.
Travolta, 56, and Preston, 47, announced the news on Tuesday on their official websites, with Travolta writing: "It's impossible to keep a secret... especially one as wonderful as this. We want to be the first to share this great news that we are expecting a new addition to our family. Love, John, Kelly and Ella."
Travolta and Preston's 16-year-old son, Jett, died after suffering a seizure while vacationing with the family in the Bahamas in January 2009.
Their daughter Ella is 10.
On Wednesday, Good Day NY asked a fertility expert to weigh in on Preston's pregnancy, specifically if there is a heightened risk for complications because of her age.
"When a woman is pregnant and older the uterus doesn't mind. There have been women in their 60s and a 70 year old who have delivered. There is higher risk for hypertension," said Dr. Nicole Noyes of the NYU Fertility Center.
"Fertility is controlled by the ovaries and not the uterus. You can get a woman pregnant in her the uterus if it is healthy. The problem is that the ovaries age. The older the less quality ovaries. It becomes more difficult to have a baby after the age of 44," added Dr. Noyes.
