(MYFOX NATIONAL) - After Paula Abdul's manager announced this past weekend that the "American Idol" judge had not yet received a contract offer to return to the show, Abdul fans are taking to Twitter rally support to bring her back.
Former "Idol" contestants and fans are flocking to #KeepPaula to voice their support. Season 7's Syesha Mercado tweeted , "No Paula = No American Idol." Katrina Darrell, aka "Bikini Girl," added , "They don't need a 4th judge, especially an insecure know it all kara. Keep Paula add bikini girl as 4th judge if they need." Fan claire0327 wrote , "Paula is one of the people who helped to make Idol what it is today! Idol would never be the same without her!"
In response to the messages, Abdul wrote on her Twitter page , "I'm actually moved 2 tears upon reading the enormous amount of tweets showing me your kindness, love, &undying support. God bless all of you!"
Abdul's manager, David Sonenberg, told the Los Angeles Times over the weekend that Abdul had not yet received a contract offer, even though auditions are due to start on Aug. 6 for Season 9.
"Very sadly, it does not appear that she's going to be back on 'Idol,'" Sonenberg told the Times.
Some say Abdul's manager's comments are a ploy to get a boost in her contract. "This kind of public talk is usually a negotiation strategy; Abdul herself has said as much in interviews," wrote Time magazine entertainment writer James Poniewozik .
Simon Cowell and Ryan Seacrest expressed few concerns that Abdul would be back. "She'll be fine. She'll be on the show," Cowell told "Extra" on Monday . Added Seacrest, "I think as far as I know, you'll see everyone back."
