(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Paula Abdul's manager has told the Los Angeles Times that she likely won't return as a judge on "American Idol" for the show's ninth season.
Abdul and the show's producers are embroiled in contract negotiations which her agent, David Sonenberg, said are not going well.
"She's not a happy camper as a result of what's going on. She's hurt. She's angry," Sonenberg said. "I think at this point we're going to be considering everything, including some kind of a competition show. She has tremendous ideas for a whole variety of shows."
Sonenberg added he hasn't even received a proposal for a new contract from FremantleMedia and 19 Entertainment, the production companies behind the show.
"I find it under these circumstances particularly unusual; I think unnecessarily hurtful," he said of the contract holdup. "I find it kind of unconscionable and certainly rude and disrespectful that they haven't stepped up and said what they want to do."
Auditions begin Aug. 6 and the season will premiere in January.
Abdul has been involved in her share of controversies regarding the show over the years including an alleged affair with Season 2 contestant Corey Clark , her relationship with new judge Kara DioGuardi and the death of an alleged stalker outside her home last year.
