Alicia Silverstone stars in the play "Time Stands Still," which has opened in Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. It is written by Donald Margulies, directed by Daniel Sullivan, and also stars Eric Bogosian, Brian d’Arcy James, and Laura Linney. Alicia plays "Mandy."

"Ms. Silverstone, whose Broadway debut came in the dreary stage adaptation of 'The Graduate,' gets a happy chance at redemption in a tricky role to which she brings warmth, actorly intelligence and delicate humor," the New York Times review of the play said. "She achieves the lovely feat of allowing us to laugh at Mandy’s shallowness even as we are charmed by her good-heartedness."

Alicia is also the author of the "The Kind Diet: How to Feel Great, Lose Weight, and Save the Planet," which has been getting rave reviews.

PLAY SUMMARY: James and Sarah, a journalist and a photographer, have been together for nine years and share a passion for documenting the realities of war. But when injuries force them to return home to New York, the adventurous couple confronts the prospect of a more conventional life. This timely and intelligent play marks the fourth collaboration for Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies and Tony Award-winning director Daniel Sullivan.
