Staub, known from her appearance on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" went to court Wednesday in an effort to block the distribution of a sex tape made by Zalewski.
Staub filed a complaint in the Passaic County Superior Court.
She claims that Steve Zalewski invaded her privacy, defamed her, and inflicted emotional distress. Staub is also seeking punitive damages in the filing.
The pair dated during the taping of the Bravo show until Staub dumped him on camera during a date.
The hearing comes as an US Weekly cover story on the women who starred in the show goes to press.
The article claims that there is still tension between the stars, a year after the just aired season was shot.
A major plot-line from the series was reaction to a book written by Staub's first husband that claimed she was a prostitute. The book played a pivotal role in the season finale.
Staub, Teressa Giudice and Dina Manzo were reunited in Manhattan for a photo shoot on June 20th.
US Weekly's Eric Andersson writes that the tensions between Staub and her castmates started before the show started taping last year. He says that Staub didn't want to pitch in money for a lawyer to fight for more cash in their appearance contracts.
