People: Kate Gosselin Dumped Jon First

The War of the Gosselins heats up as one magazine reports how Jon and Kate Gosselin really split up.

People magazine has been the unofficial voice for both reality TV parents during their split, and published denials and statements from Jon and Kate.

But now, People is mostly Jon's news outlet and its latest story won't sit well with Kate.

People says its sources report that it was Kate Gosselin who dumped Jon late last year and that Jon was staying in other parts of the couple's estate even as "Jon & Kate Plus 8" was filming last season.

The magazine said that Kate, 34, told Jon, 32, she wanted her own life apart from him.

The move led to Jon taking a trip to see family friends: the Glassmans.

Dr. Glassman did Kate's freebie tummy tuck, and the Glassmans had an extra house guest in May when their daughter Hailey paid a Mother's Day visit.

Now, Hailey and Jon Gosselin are dating, and Kate Gosselin hasn't made any public statements in weeks.

The suddenly chatty Jon also spent this weekend talking to a senior editor at Star magazine, in what could be a public attempt to get his version of the divorce public.

Pennsylvania is a no-fault divorce state, but the couple has millions in assets, and Kate is believed to be worth more than Jon Gosselin.

That could set up a contentious battle over child support, alimony and the division of assets.

Over the weekend, Kate Gosselin checked into the Essex House Hotel, at the south entrance of Central Park, along with her twins and sextuplets.

That is about 15 blocks away from Jon Gosselin's new bachelor pad on the Upper West Side.

Producers for “Jon & Kate Plus 8” were quoted last month as looking forward to shooting episodes of the series in Manhattan, to give viewers new locations to see the family.

Manhattan would also be a treasure trove of freebies for the couple who banks a reported $70,000 per episode (not counting free vacations and items for the kids).

Jon Gosselin, 32, has already moved into the Alexandria Building on the city’s Upper West Side.

One bedroom condos start at about $1 million there. Jon Gosselin reportedly has a 2 bedroom condo just off Broadway.

Kate Gosselin also reportedly has her own condo, but it is near the family's estate outside Reading, Pa.

The Manhattan condo puts Jon Gosselin fairly close to girlfriend Glassman, who lives in nearby Westchester County.

"Hailey and I have been family friends for several years and only very recently began dating," Jon Gosselin told People on Wednesday. "What began as friendship has grown into something more."

"I genuinely enjoy spending time with her. It's nice to be with someone who I can confide in and trust and who accepts me for who I am."

Gosselin and Glassman have been linked for about one month. Jon Gosselin, 32, is still legally married but separated from Kate Gosselin.
