The New York Islanders have announced that the team is being sold to a former Washington Capitals co-owner and a London-based investor. In a statement Tuesday, the team says a group led by former Capitals co-owner Jon Ledecky and investor Scott Malkin has reached an agreement to buy a "substantial" minority interest in the team. Security beefed up at Yankee Stadium

Security is being beefed up at Yankee Stadium this week. It is all part of Major League Baseball's safety plan. Ticketholders going to Tuesday night's game against the Houston Astros will notice metal detectors in place at some of the gates. Boston champ Meb Keflezighi to run NYC Marathon

Three-time Olympian and Boston Marathon champion Meb Keflezighi will run this November's TCS New York City Marathon, a race he won in 2009, New York Road Runners announced recently. Keflezighi, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist in the marathon, will run as Team for Kids ambassador, raising money for the NYRR Team for Kids charity running team as well as his own charity, the MEB Foundation.
